Rana-Jamila has been sailing recreationally since her teen years and has first-hand experiences of taking advantage of opportunities created by her interests in sailing and travel during her youth. A world wide traveller, she has logged many miles on yacht deliveries and participation in various regattas, plus she holds a RYA Day Skipper along with STCW credentials.
A marketing professional with over 20 years of experience Rana holds the roles of event planning & marketing for the prestigious Antigua Sailing Week, the Caribbean’s oldest regatta. She is part of the team administrating the Youth to Keelboat (Y2K) program which facilitates pairing youth sailors with the participating boats for the life-changing opportunity to race in the annual regatta.
Rana also gives back to her community as an active board member of the West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation which guides young people on a discovery of potential through hands-on sailing experience aboard the traditionally built Carriacou sloop New Moon.
Additionally, she is actively involved in the business of the marine industry as a director of the Antigua Barbuda Marine Association.
