ASW would like to announce a new deadline date for the Harper’s School Art Competition submissions, which had been postponed due to the national shutdown and other measures in place to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. The competition, open to Antiguan school aged children for decades, is extending its submission deadline to Friday November 6, 2020.
This years students were asked to think about how they can be better stewards of the environment – caring for our water ways, beaches, communities, schools and our neighbourhoods. The full brief can be found here.
Marketing Manager Rana Lewis says “While we appreciate that many students have already started and may have completed their artwork, we are encouraging those who have not had a chance, to now take the opportunity to create something during the upcoming summer holiday. And we encourage parents to actively engage with their children to complete the assignment.”
The announcement of the annual winner of the Harper’s School Art Competition prior to Antigua Sailing Week has always been a proud moment for the young artists and their families. The change in date will allow the winning piece of artwork to benefit from longer exposure as the official welcome signboard into the English Harbour Area by being displayed from December right through to Antigua Sailing Week each year.
The ASW office is now open to respond to queries about the competition rules by calling 725-6651.
