It is that time of year again! Antigua Sailing Week and LIAT invites school children age 5 – 18 years old attending school in Antigua & Barbuda to enter into its Annual Art Competition. Not only are there fabulous prizes to be won. The competition is a unique way for the children to feel like their part of this important event in Antigua’s sporting calendar it also provides exposure of the talent often hidden inside the classroom.
Prizes are awarded to 1st 2nd and 3rd place winner in the 3 age categories (Lower Junior 5-9, Upper Junior 10-14 and Senior 15-18).
We try not to restrict the students with the use of Themes says coordinator Thalia Burton. The competition is open to all interpretations as it applies to Antigua Sailing Week. The real challenge for the artists is capturing what Antigua Sailing Week means to them and making it into an original work of art. All pieces submitted will be judged on originality and the overall artistic quality of the work. All art mediums will be considered: paintings, drawings, oil, acrylic, pastels and ink etc. However we ask that students limit the use of certain media especially those that can be dusted or wiped off or that could dirty other entries for example (glitter, coal etc.).
Entry form and rules are available for download at www.sailingweek.com or on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/
