Antigua Sailing Week 2014 may still be nine months away but the organising team is very busy in the background, organising and marketing the event and putting plans in place for what it hopes to be the best Antigua Sailing Week ever!
On Friday of this week, the Race Committee team will be on the road to spread the word about the Caribbean’s most prestigious regatta. Kathy Lammers will be attending LYRA 2013 (Lakes Yacht Racing Association) on Lake Ontario in Toronto. This regatta attracts sailors from numerous yacht clubs in the Great Lakes and extends from July 28 to August 4. Both distance racing and around the buoys racing are featured, with over 100 boats expected to participate.
Kathy will represent Antigua Sailing Week and all of Antigua yachting in conjunction with Gold sponsors of the event, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and Nonsuch Bay Resort. The team will be providing Antigua Sailing Week 2014 skippers’ bags and brochures, caps embroidered with ‘The Beach is Just the Beginning’, Antigua Yachting Calendars and other marketing materials. Nonsuch Bay Resort, sponsor of Antigua Sailing Week’s Lay Day event, the Nonsuch Bay RS Elite Challenge, has offered a raffle prize of a weeks’ stay at the Resort in Antigua.
And of course the team will be on hand in person to meet and greet both Canadian and American sailors and to encourage their participation in Antigua Sailing Week 2014 and future years! An entry fee discount is being offered to LYRA 2013 participants who register and pay their entry fee early!
On the other side of the pond, members of the Antigua Sailing Week team will be participating in various different events to promote the Regatta. The first of those is Cowes Week which runs from the 3rd to 10th of August. Press writer Louay Habib (along with his son Tom) will be acting as ASW Ambassador and distributing brochures at various Cowes Week events including a special ASW cocktail promotion to be held by Coast Graphics which is expected to be widely attended. An entry fee discount will also be offered to Cowes Week participants who register and pay their entry fee early.
Finally, Antigua Sailing Week will once again be promoted at the famous King and Queen Pub in Hamble where Louay will celebrate his 50th birthday on September 20!
Be sure to look out for members of the ASW team and say hello when you see them, and be sure to take advantage of the special discounts for early sign up and payment.
There are plenty more marketing plans currently being developed which the Antigua Sailing Week team is looking forward to announcing in the near future!
