Perfect conditions at Nonsuch Bay delivered a great day of racing for the 5 skippers and their teams who took part in the RS Elite Summer Series Final at Nonsuch Bay Resort earlier today.
Competition was as fierce as expected when you get the big boys on the water in the RS Elites. Karl James, Bernie Wong, Patmore Watson, Mark Fitzgerald and heading up the youth team Rhone Kirby battled it out over 6 races.
The winner was Mark Fitzgerald with his son and Dragon World Champion Poul HØj-Jenssen on board (above) and coming a close second Karl James with Bob Green and Sean Malone on board. Both teams now get to enter the Nonsuch Bay RS Elite Challenge which will take place on Lay Day during Antigua Sailing Week, on Wednesday 27 April, 2016. The winner of that race wins an all-inclusive week for two at Nonsuch Bay Resort.
In third place was the youth team with Rhone Kirby at the helm and team mates Jules Mitchell and Vincent Anfi on board (Below). There is no doubt that this is the team to watch in the future, with Jules heading off to the ISAF Worlds in Malaysia in December, they continue to improve and have the determination to win.
The winning team won three short sleeve UV Tech shirts from the new Gill Antigua Sailing Week 2016 Range and guests were able to buy from the range which hit down this week. Stock will now be on sale from the Antigua Sailing Week office at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina and on-line at www.sailingweek.com by the end of this coming week.
A huge thank you to Lesley and his team at Nonsuch Bay, committee Clare Cupples and Jonty Layfied and the team at Nonsuch Bay Resort.
