SCHOOL ART COMPETITION

The  winners of the 2013 ASW Schools' Art Competition sponsored by LIAT has been announced.

The Antigua Sailing Week Schools' Art competition is an annual contest sponsored by LIAT that is used to arouse an interest in Art and Sailing amongst the youth.  School children ages 5 - 18 years old attending school in Antigua & Barbuda were asked to capture on paper just what Antigua Sailing Week means to them.

"It is a most difficult task to select just nine winners out of the many submissions received",  said Thalia Burton co-ordinator of the competition.  "To see the creativity and thoughtfulness that was captured within each piece is truly inspirational

Judges of the competition, which was held at the Dockyard Museum were: Nancy Nicholson of the Rhythm and Blues Library, Denis Jules of LIAT, Krystal Walter of Embelish WI and Christopher Waters Curator of the Dockyard Museum.

Winners of Art Contest are chosen from three age categories (5-9 years old; 10-14 years old; and 15-18 years old), and judging is based on three criteria: execution of concept, uniqueness and artistry.
