ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The annual Signboard Competition is open to all schoolchildren of Antigua and Barbuda age 5-17 years. The Competition is a unique and creative way for young people to feel part of this increasingly important event in Antigua's sporting calendar, Antigua Sailing Week.
Individual creativity and fresh ideas will be especially recognised and the winning picture in the senior division will have the honour of being painted onto a sign welcoming visitors by road to the English Harbour area for the following year.
We are pleased to introduce Kentucky Fried Chicken as the new sponsor for this year's competition.
Great prizes to include ipods, digital camaras, art supplies and other great prizes.

THE RULES OF THE COMPETITION
The Painting must be the original work of one child only, may be in any medium or combination of mediums. It should not be smaller than 12' by 6'; preferably 14' by 18'. It should have a nautical character appropriate to Sailing Week and the Dockyard and must include the words ANTIGUA SAILING WEEK in attractive lettering done by the artist and incorporated as part of the painting. A painted border is suggested, but no frames please. The NAME, AGE, and SCHOOL of the artist should be clearly marked on the BACK of the painting. No name should be visible on the front.
The Theme should be of a nautical character integrating the excitement of Antigua Sailing Week with the satisfaction and pleasures of our new sponsor's products at KFC - Finger Licking Good. The image should in some way include the words Antigua Sailing Week and KFC as decided upon by the artist.
The Competition is open to all schoolchildren of Antigua and Barbuda, aged 17years and under. It will be judged in three categories: Senior ~ aged 13-17, Upper Junior ~ aged 9-12 and Lower Junior ~ aged 5-8. First, Second and Third places in each category will be recognised, and several Honourable Mentions will be awarded.
The Deadline for the submission of entries is 4:30 pm on Friday, the 18th of April, 2008. All posters must be delivered to the Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association, Newgate St., St. John's.
The Judging will take place on Thursday 24th of April, and the posters will be put on display at the Admiral's Inn from Saturday 26th until the end of Sailing Week. They will then be returned to the Hotel Association Office where they may be collected the following week. Remember, the Judges are looking for both carefully executed and imaginatley conceived work, so please give the children plenty of time to do their best work.
The Prize Giving will take place at the Admiral's Inn on Saturday the 3rd April from 3:00 pm. The Prizes this year will consist of vouchers for the purchase of Art materials, to encourage the young artists and their Schools to upgrade their Art resources. They will be given refreshments at the Admiral's Inn, and may also walk around the Dockyard to see the Racing fleet.
The winners in each category will have their photographs and artwork featured on the Stanford Antigua Sailing Week website. Do not miss the opportunity to showcase your creative talents to the local community and the world.
